Dr. John Kelly is a native of Charlestown who graduated with highest honors from the University of Rhode Island, earning degrees in microbiology and chemistry. He completed his MD and PhD degrees at the University of Connecticut, where he concentrated on community service, leadership, and immunology research.
After completing his internship at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester, he returned to UConn for dermatology residency, where he served as chief resident, published work on the latest psoriasis treatments, and represented over 700 residents and fellows as president of the resident forum. He also won a grant from the American Academy of Dermatology to provide care to the people of Botswana, and participated in a medical relief mission to Haiti.
As a general dermatologist Dr. Kelly aims to provide excellence in all aspects of skin care, with a particular interest in the relationship of the immune system to skin disease, including skin cancers and inflammatory conditions like psoriasis.
Dr. Kelly and his wife Kristen Hubbard, MD, an internist specializing in women’s health, returned to Rhode Island in July 2015. They live in East Greenwich and, in their spare time, are busy with their families and friends enjoying all the great things the Ocean State has to offer.
