Valerie Tokarz, DO

Valerie Tokarz PhotoDr. Tokarz graduated from Boston University with a degree in Biomedical Engineering and went to medical school at the Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Dr. Tokarz completed a Surgical Internship at Portsmouth Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, Virginia. After serving tours of duty as a general physician for our Active Duty Sailors and Marines, including deployments to the Middle East and Europe, she completed her Residency in Dermatology at Naval Medical Center San Diego in California.

After residency and while on Active Duty in San Diego, Dr. Tokarz was an attending dermatologist training residents from both the military and UCSD programs in laser and cosmetic as well as general dermatology.   That department is one of the leading centers of excellence for laser and scar treatments, especially for wounded warriors. Dr. Tokarz was the first military physician to institute use of lasers for scars for humanitarian missions and performed over 50 cases using advanced techniques while in Southeast Asia during operation Pacific Partnership 2012 on the hospital ship USNS Mercy.

Dr. Tokarz is a Board Certified Dermatologist and practices Laser, Cosmetic and General Dermatology. She has special interest in laser resurfacing, scar treatments, rosacea, vascular, and anti-aging therapies. She has embraced living in Rhode Island and enjoys time spent with her family and the outdoors.
